What we learnt in 2021

Can you believe it, December 31st 2021, we made it!

For our team at Artifex it has been a big one and a great one. There’s been countless new products added to our collection, a continued demand for locally made products and many hands spending many hours carefully crafting high-quality furniture. Today we sit back and reflect on the year that’s been.

Here are 8 things the year 2021 has taught us…

  1. Just because a product has been around for years, doesn’t mean it is any less loved. We continue see Artifex originals; Zip, Mies and Belle as very well liked among our residential partners.

  2. There was an increased demand for furniture customised to suit mental health fitouts this year. This furniture requires all fixings including staples to be concealed. The products need to be robust, not easily lifted and contain no removable parts.

  3. Quiet Space within commercial interiors allows employees to escape the hustle bustle of the main office area. It is an ideal way to make use of an open space, with our Pax Anthem and Pax Origin remaining the popular designs.

  4. Boucle is definitely in with most fabric houses releasing a new range. We can also confirm any curved design sofa, armchair, ottoman etc in boucle is simply stunning!

  5. We have missed connecting with our Eastern States retailer network via in-person visits and Michael looks forward to organising appointments in the new year when Australia is a little more open.

  6. Linen look upholstery fabric in a neutral colour palette has been favoured throughout many orders, suitable for a large variety of products and different interior themes.

  7. The interest in Australian Made products is still strong, due the awareness made over the last 18 months with covid and difficulty in getting goods from overseas. More people are becoming aware of what can be made here, they are asking questions and the passion for supporting local has grown.

  8. Our clients are a creative bunch, keeping us on our toes with custom requests and designs only limited by their imagination. These requests are passed to our upholstery, metal and timber departments and we love seeing their skills and experience bringing these ideas to life.

There are many things life and business has taught us this year, but this gives you a little insight into 2021 at Artifex Australia. Whilst we take a little break to celebrate, we hope you also have had a good year and we look forward to what’s in store for 2022.
